Wow, That's pretty but, pretty damn expensive as well (even though they take a couple of 40lb blocks and throw away ~98% of them)

Interesting. I've got the bones of three Commandos in my garage. I'm supposed to build them. Two for a double and one for the sidecar. The friend who gave them to me has about 30 or so more cases in his garage. None of them machined from billet though. Nor that expensive I suppose.

Rarely does the scrap get thrown away. It's recycled so it isn't a total loss.

The cases were made by sbr in new zealand. They were $5K new a set. so $3700 doesn't seem that bad. As far as I know there were only 5 produced to date. If I had $50K to have Kenny build me a seely norton replica race bike, stroking out a $3700 check for billent engine cases seems like a no brainer. sadly I don't have either.

To put this in perspective there was a guy making H2 billet engine cases in Holland that used a zx7R transmission and had all sorts of trick upgrades. They were $10K a pop and i think he sold like 5 of them as well.

btw, nobody noticed the seller was Graeme Crosby?

Nice Video! Looks like I need to hook some coolant jets to my angle grinder before I try to duplicate that. If you really want to piss money into the wind get in touch Bakker Frambou in Holland. They will make you a titanium Manx Norton replica frame with a magnesium swing arm for a mere 18,000 euros. Bob Bakker is a cousin to Nico Bakker who runs the place. Bob is also a business partner. He told me that they make about 20 Titanium frames a year and have them sold before they make them.
