Just bought new tires and a chain for my KLR, as well as buying some tools, spare parts, camping gear, and a case of MRE's for next month's trip to Colorado (and back, via New Mexico, Texas, and Arkansas) next month.
The bike hit 20k miles yesterday, and had just over 9k when I bought it in late August last year. It's been a great thing to abuse the last few months, to the point where I don't think I could go back to pavement-only bikes exclusively without some serious health issues holding me back.
It's like having a jeep that gets 55mpg, and holds speed on hills without downshifting to 3rd to maintain 55 mph, lol. Good shit, for real.

Told ya.....it may become your favorite steed.

Been eyeing a new XR650L at the dealer. New $5500 + all the fees.

I'd be lying to you if I wasn't seriously considering the KLR. 6 gallon tank and an aftermarket loaded with goodies?........seems hard to pass up.

If you can afford it, I'd do the Honda with an IMS fuel tank and a good quality seat.
The KLR is rather heavy, but I'm a pretty stout dude, with a smaller budget. The KLR has been VERY affordable to upgrade, and the weight has been more of an advantage than a hindrance when it comes to traction off-road, and wind stability on the big roads at speed. I've been very surprised where it can go with a little bit of balls and some throttle control.

...aaand instead it was sitting on a cross dock in Ohio somewhere.

Watched MotoGP, swept the garage out, and did the spring idle reset procedure on my 690 Duke.

It's hard to justify ever getting rid of the TBS. Heck, the guy that sold it to me tried to buy it back.
