    New guy from South Africa

    Hi ladies and gents,

I have been racing off road bikes for 25 years and will be slowing down a bit with the racing and looking to build a cafe racer or 2,

I'm glad I found this forum, loads of good info here, I am torn between a few builds, early 80's xt 500, 04' BMW gs 1200, 84' Yamaha xt 600 tenere,

Anyhow, once I have decided I will start the process
    Cheers
    Stu

    Howdy doody.

Do the XT500. They make a good cafe racer, pretty easy.

    Danger, is my business."

I'm leaning towards the xt, I have seen some awesome examples and like the idea of a super single 500cc thumper

It's just off the east coast of us, a few hours flight, I've never been but my work colleagues have been and they say it's awesome, not sure if they ride dirt bikes there , there must be a few !

I've got an old buddy with a XT500 that has a Kawasaki 1000 fork and 19 inch front wheel that he has done absolutely mega miles on over the years. I've ridden it on the road and the track and it handles great.
