says the man who rode bitch on his female bosses motorcycle.
Frankie, the Big Kahuna: What does that mean, "we're not in?"
Annette: Wild guess? I think it means they're not in.
Bobby: Boy, it's quite a piece of dialogue when you intellectual masterminds get together! I should be writing this down!

Frankie, the Big Kahuna: But what does "we" mean?
Bobby: [impossibly sarcastic] I think it's the plural form, meaning "more than one." Would you like me to conjugate that for you, Pop? Do you know what "conjugate" means, Dad?

i wanna hijack this a bit as i have a 550 and debating swap.

what do you guys think about going an inch shorter w/ one of the earlier cb750 arms(the pressed tubing ones)? too wobbly or just right? are these any worse flexibility wise than the stock 550 arm. these things are cheap, $50 or so and they bolt right in i believe. not 100% sure on the pivot bolt diameter but the width is the same.

i had thought about a 1100f one but i don't want to deal w/ shortening it. anyone rode a 550 w/ a longer swingarm? the boxed ones look cool but if it funks up the handling then no thanks.

i'm mostly gonna be riding on the street but i'd like to go to the track eventually though I'm sure it will be a while before my skills catch up w/ the limits of the bike.

going for a shorter swing arm on CB550 is a BAD IDEA
It really needs to be about 2" longer
If you modify the motor so bike is faster, you get a real scary tank slapper around 115~117mph (but it goes away about 120+ )
You can over brake back to 90 (ish) so it isn't such an issue slowing down
If you have a slight uphill or headwind, could be real dangerous if you can't get through the 115 problem (or, you could just ride slower )

hmm so maybe the 1100f swing arm wouldn't be bad after all?

i can pick one up for $140 right now...may do that then ride the stock arm for a while then switch over and see if i like the difference.

shouldn't be a problem selling i don't think if i don't like. Also have seen a few people actually extend the axle slots forward an inch or so to regain wheelbase on cbx's.
