Hi, I'll post a picture of my project in a bit but before that I want to post a picture of some Dunstall rearsets and see if anyone recognizes them. I picked them up MANY years ago and was going to use them on a Norton or Triumph project even though they are on the wrong side and I'd have to cut and reweld them or something awful.

I have to assume the go on a Japanese bike of some sort but despite search many pictures on the web I've never found something close.

It might be part puzzle as I don't know the correct orientation if them.

Anyone want to take a guess??!?!!?

Additional picture with more detail upon request.

They would make more visual sense if you carefully laid them out as they would be installed on a bike instead of backwards. Maybe somebody can nail that right off the bat, but, I don't even want to try with that series of pix. Too lazy. How about taking a sharpie and marking some dimensions as well?

btw.... can you bend that likely shifter rod with your hands? they do look typical dunstall underengineered. The clamp made out of what looks like no more than 30 thou thick sheet stock is yet another prime example.

I saw him not do it.

Kawasaki triple. H1, but may also fit the H2. I've had a few set of those over the years.

did you find them adequate? I've had a few various sets for brit bikes and found them quite frail and crude.

Yes, I've always been underwhelmed with Dunstall "quality".

speaking of dunstall, I saw the replica dunstall "clipons" that carpy is selling. they use the pinch bolt on the upper fork clamp and a hole for a bolt tapped down through the top of the fork cap. a hundred bucks!

if that's what dunstall "quality" means then count me out. I'll take champ's clipons any day over that stuff.

Vae fossor!

the original dunstall clipons used the pinch bolt on the top clamp. Used to pick them up all day long off ebay for $30. For $100 carpy can go screw.

Funny, some dunstall is as brittle as frozen snot, and some of it is overbuilt. I have a set of CB750F ones from 1976 and there are places where solid steel bar stock is used and others where it is a muffler clamp with a thin piece of steel welded to it. I could remake all of it in my basement with a saw and a drill press (and a welder if i felt ambitious). It is heavy shit too.

on the flip side, the ones for my Dunstall Norton are as overbuilt as you can come - to the point where the stock z plates and pegs are actually lighter.

The Dunstall clip ons for the CB 750 SOHC used the pinch bolt for the fork tubes and used 1 bolt going through the top fork cap.
Like so:

These were for the non-faired bikes as they allowed the stock head light mounts to be retained (they also worked fine with the faired bikes). Conventional clip ons could also be used with the faired bikes as the headlight mounts were removed.

The quality of the Dunstall stuff is all over the board. Some stuff is real nice and lightweight and other stuff is questionable. I have a set of Dunstall rear sets for the Kaw Z-1 that have big steel(heavy) side plates, that IMO, aren't "ideal" for a cafe.

Hello did you ever identify those dunstall rearsets?
I have a pair of the exact same ones that came in a box of stuff labeled Honda CB350. I have a set of Honda CB350 Dunstall rearsets on one of my bikes and these are not the same.
I'd be interested to hear if you ever discovered what they are
cheers
