I just took off my voltage regulator and ran the part number it is for a 75 rd200... I do not think it is interchangeable with my OEM regulator. What do you think?

Dude. Sit down with your wiring diagram from the manual and a voltmeter. You'll figure it out.

The manual does not have a wiring diagram or any useful electrical information at all, it has a total of three useful paragraphs of information for my bike/similar models and they are all about engine/transmission internals, clutch and, brakes. I need a genuine yamaha shop and or owners manual but where can I get one?

Do you know where I could find this wiring diagram? A manual? A link??

I am ordering a new one that is a true cs3b regulator. The only place I can find that sells one is ebay...

Did you try eBay, Google or Amazon?

If you can get early copy of the Motorcycle Electrical Manual by Anthony Tranter(published by Haynes, ISBN 0-85696446-8) it uses the Yamaha starter generator as an example and is easier to use than the Yamaha manual. (diagrams how to check/test)
It's probably 'first edition' (mine is from 1979)
The newer one (3rd edition) skims over it without giving much information.
I don't have 2nd edition so can't comment on that one

Did you email Ronny Hileman at Speed and Sport? If he doesn't have a manual, nobody does.

Anybody know if this is like the starter/gen on the older YD3 and similar bikes from the 60's?

I was just into one again today. If it is similar I would also check the brushes. Also the connecting wires can short out on the cover.

If you scroll down on this link the cs3b (my bike) and the rd200( the voltage regulator that was on my bike)voltage regulators are compared. The electrical values are different, are they different enough to cause a charging faliure?

I am debating on buying a used regulator off ebay for 40 or a 120 one from a yamaha dealer... I like knowing if it fails I can return it but it come with the price.. what do you think? Better safe than sorry?

Better check with your dealer. Most that I'm aware of won't return failed electrical parts. They assume you've screwed up something that caused the part to fail. So don't go with the higher priced part on the basis of being able to return it because you might not be able to anyhow.

I mean more of a fitment problem, I am unsure if the ebay regulators are for my bike they claim cs3 but they also claim ycs1 and those two bikes take different regulators.
