There are a LOT of dirtbags that moved here because it's the cool thing to do, but they haven't completely overrun the things that actually ARE cool about the city. And the surrounding hill country with all it's bars and music venues is hard to beat, particularly for someone who likes to get around on two wheels.
yes but none of the non-dirtbags would use the term "austin lifestyle" in selling something, esp if that something was a weird-o eye-talian motorcycle/hipster candy.

And being the right mix of offended and amused means I am doing it right!

my wife was an Austin-ite for 15 years, and so were all of her friends. I love to sit and listen to them prattle on about how it isn't "their Austin" to the point where they are worked up into a foamy lather and then just say the words "cosmic cowboy", drop the mic, and walk out of the room. To be fair I do the same thing about brooklyn but really a lot of cool things died so the bacteria that hipsterisim could spread, Some of it was good, like NYC is no longer a psuedo demilitarized war zone like it used to be, but some of it was bad: like all the grindhouse theatres, the real art communities, graffiti, etc. In the end, I really prefer NYC the way it is now (even though I don't live there anymore) than the way I grew up with it. I think bitching about how stuff is different is just a function of getting old.

The guy selling this bike wasn't a hipster. He just knows his market. The real bummer is that this bike wasn't suitable for anyone with a lifestyle that included riding a motorcycle regularly.

I was thinking about planning for retirement in Austin. Honestly.

But I have to ask: How can you ride a motorcycle with a butt plug?

    Danger, is my business.

    found this CB550: Motorcycles : 1977 Honda 550 F Super Sport

i may buy it if it has papers, is a daily runner, and I can get it for less than 750$

the "CB550 Super Sport" written on the side cover in sharpie really sets it apart. he sure made it his own!

How do you ride without one? Guess I've been here too long.
