    People still steal cars?

To be honest I have been thinking about an El Camino as a DD a lot lately.
Kinda ticks the right boxes. Maybe not a 572 powered one, but still.

What boxes might those be I ask?

    - Dating or married to a relative? Check
    - Good excuse to use Astroturf in your vehicle? - check.
    - Actually enjoy "you might be a redneck/white trash" jokes even when they are about you.
    - Jack of all trades, master of none? check

I can make these jokes because I had a very rusty 1972 Elco for all of 5 minutes when it wasn't fashionable to do so. To be honest I would own another as well, however I rarely can justify the premium that 1964-1972 Elco's (and the GMC version the Spirit) carry over the same year pickup trucks. Sure they are coil rather than leaf, and use the muscle car parts rather than truck parts but a 2wd pickup will always be cheaper and more useful.

If you have to get one get a 1968-1972 bodystyle as those tend to have less of the bed rot issues than the 1964-1967 ones. Plus they look right with rally stripes.

    I owned a 79 for a while.
You might want to check on what carries the premium.....old truck bubble is larger then the 911 one...

I'll agree the 1968-1972 C series trucks are bonkers on price. But the earlier pickups are significantly cheaper.
