why? they are all lighter than the v12, and some weigh as much as the I6. An aluminum LS chevy makes the most sense as it weighs about 400lbs as compared with the 700lbs of the V12 and the 600lbs of the I6.

Isn't that because hop-up parts are few and far between for the old 500cid Caddy mills?

agreed. What makes it harder is the trans bolt pattern. In some years it is BOP, in others it is CAD specific, and some are chevy in the corp years. Hard to get a manual behind one but getting easier, but even the automatics are massive.

In the 90's it was hard to get speed parts, but now there are some. I mean you aren't going to have the manifold selection of a 350 chevy but you don't really need it - they make 500 ft/lbs of torque stock, cam, intake, carb, and headers and you go from smog era 170 hp to 300+ really easy.

Oh ya, dont get me wrong, Jag makes a beautiful car. Some of the 60's Coupe's where the ultimate phallic car, mile long front end, lol makes me think of that Family guy episode.

I was at lunch, so GeeTo beat me to it. A turbo-hydramatic is good enough for your snobby burled walnut, but not a SBC? I thought like 90% of those things came with GM automatics.

The post 78 XJS uses a T400, but I don't think it is a SBC pattern.

Up to 1992 it's a TH400 with a Jaguar v12 specific bolt pattern, 1993 and newer it's a GM corporate bolt pattern and a 4 speed GM tranny (700R4?). I've seen people swap the v12 into corvettes and datsuns. Kit car guys used to love them to replicate ferrari v12s. Still waiting for someone to V12 swap a 3rd gen iroc camaro.

My father had a Jag XJ sedan for a while, it had the 3 carburetor set up. It was a pain in the ass and complete piece of shit 90% of the time. But for the 10% of the time it worked, man was it a fun car to drive, smooth and sounded beautiful.
