Meh - this guy was ready to bail anyway.

I think you're just jealous that Geeto beat you to the punch.

I'm pretty sure if we were to go through Squeegee's posts we could find harsher replies that what I've seen here. Geeto's reply seemed pretty tame to me. Certainly not worthy of a "I'm taking my ball and going home!" response. Geez, it wasn't even his first reply on the thread.

I mean, it's not like he's discouraging the guy and posting a picture of a bike someone else built but he put grips on to bolster his arguments.

Why? He's clearly my biggest fan. I mean he positivly obsessed, I may make him president of my fan club.

Besides, I couldn't afford to buy another street bike and insure it anyway, which is probably why there are so many good deals to be had here right now on used bikes. US buyers not only enjoy a 34% strong dollar at the moment, pretty sure they also get 100% of the 13% sales tax refunded when they take the goods out of the country. ... that's pretty much like y'all gettin a 47% discount off the purchase price of any goods purchased here.
As a Canadian, please stop telling that story. I can just see the parade of trailered bikes heading into the abyss never to return. The insurance thing drives me round the bend and I truly feel they need to answer for the absurd gouging they are doing here. I mean in an official capacity. It has absolutely reached the level of absurd. As long as we keep paying it they'll keep raising it I guess.
If you can't pick it back up, don't ride it.

If buying from a private party, US buyers won't pay Canadian taxes to begin with. When I bought my 851 it was cash to the seller and then a fee to the US guys at the border for importing an Italian bike. Then I had to pay Michigan taxes when I registered it here.
