    So, tell me about KZ1000's. Things to look out for, etc.

    the handle like freight trains. Pull like them also.

    as far as I know, no real horrible things to watch out for besides the usual 1970's japanese electrics (stator, reg/rect).

    What year and model? they made these bikes until 2002 as police modesl, in 1983 as Fuel Injected, and 19n 1976 as a carryover bored out kz900. Plus there are LTDs, turbos, Z1R...etc

    shaft or chain drive?

    the first KZ1000 was a 1977 model and pretty much was the same as the 1973-1976 kz900 except for the bore and paint schemes. In 1978 the Z1r came out. This stayed the same until 1979 when the bike was remodeled with new bodywork, mag wheels, and triple disc brakes. This new bike was called the MK-II. The engine was updated also.

    In 1980 kawasaki came out with several models and the hp number jumped from 83 to 92hp:

    - Kz1000 Standard
    - z 1000 Fuel Injection
    - Z1 Classic (chrome tank and side panels but otherwise an LTD)
    - KZ1000 CSR (similar to the LTD).
    - KZ1000 E1 and E2 (similar to the standard but with shaft drive)
    - KZ1000 LTD

    The only sporting models were ths standard and the FI. By this time Kawasaki was developing the GPZ line of bikes. I think the bottom ends are all the same (except for the shafties) but I think the GPZs have different cams, heads, and bore sizes. Either way I have seen GPZ engines in KZ frames before.

    in 1982 kawasaki produced the KZ1000ELR -Eddie Lawson Replica. They also released the kz1000p police model.


    The engines are failry bullet proof and are still competetive in drag racing today (along with the gs1100, these are the only two air cooled engines from the superbike era that are still competetive).

    Chain. It might be sold already, but its cheap enough to catch my interest. And I like the MadMax late 70's/early 80's superbikes.

    I love the kz bikes (except the kz twins they can all die). IT would make an awesome AMA superbike street replica fer sure

    looks like an early kz1000 (77-78) that has some major major work done to it (engine, forks, bodywork, etc). For $800 I would buy that this minute. call that dude right now!!!!

    you have to have a red bandana tied off on the bars, some kind of Led Zep album art 'brushed on the tank, and you gotta roll the obligatory kerker pipe. once those requirements are met, do can whatever you want.
