    Merry Christmas

Baking smiley buns with my daughter, getting ready to PPV "Sorcerer's Apprentice", then heading over to my folks' with kids for soup, a visit with my brother from MN, presents... and hopefully an adult beverage or 2 (or3, or 8...)

And a few photos to get you all in the spirit:
Made by my daughter this morning.

    Angel atop our Christmas tree.

And these are smiley buns. Filled with chocolate.

Boy, nothing says Merry Christmas like the top of that tree!

    Tony,
I'll try not to forget, but our big thing is tonight. Being married to the Sicilian that I am, it's all about "The Feast of Seven Fishes". And ya better like sea food.

Of course they're smiling! Wouldn't you smile if you got a plate full of boobies for Christmas?

They do look like boobies, until I put the faces on them - and I have pointed out to Gurl that they should more appropriately be called Boobie Buns. Would be a lot easier to omit the faces, but can't hand out Boobie Buns to children, can I?

Forgot this earlier. It's my favorite Christmas song:

Boobies is boobies! Paris' or otherwise. An old saying. You don't look at the mantle when you're pokin' the fire.

    Dinner table:

Pork roast, stuffed w/prunes & apricots, cooked in brandy:

Pot o' mash, my brother & nephew:

    Dinner rolls, made by Gurl:

There was also a ham, and this is raisin sauce... not sure exactly what's in it, but it's essentially candy. Raisin sauce is not very typical, from what I hear, but we've never eaten a ham without it:

Big pan of squash, with crunchy cornflake topping. I ate none... and right next to it is green bean casserole - green beans, cream of mushroom soup, topped with french fried onions from a can (I imagine this is an entirely American dish that would be hard to explain):

Mom & dad have friends who run a honey business, and these figures are made of beeswax. I have an identical set:

This Creche was made by my dad's secretary 30yrs ago. My dad, brother & I made the stable, using palm fronds from a tree in the backyard when we lived in CA:

Dessert; Pumpkin pie, apple pie, some kind of cake, cinnamon rolls made by my dad, and pecan pie (most likely unknown in GB? It's a really sweet custard in a pie crust, topped with pecans. Delicious)... ice cream, and squirty whipped cream to top it off:

And Christmas present from my mom - spatulas, bowl scrapers... not sure their proper name, but pretty sweet nonetheless! Can't wait to bake something, so I have an excuse to use them:

There's a bag of Welsh cakes in one of those photos above.

I imagine, outside America, we have a reputation for pointless consumption, and perhaps my photos do nothing to dispel that notion. To be fair, I have 5 brothers & sisters, their spouses, nieces & nephews... and they were all here today (except a sister, brother & his family), my sister-in-law's parents & brother, and a couple of friends of my parents... all told, more than 20 people sat around that dinner table, and exchanged gifts afterwards.
