A long time ago I had a chance to buy a TZ750 for $1000. The seller had talked up to me that it was well know local bike in New Orleans with real history, that the PO had managed to get street papers for it and it was a well known street racer in the 80s, etc.....

What it turned out to be was 5 milk crates full of parts and a frame and wheels that had been through a freshwater flood. It was the real deal alright but whoever bought that signed themselves up for a $20,000 restoration.

This was back in a time when I didn't know dick about old race bikes and buying high performance mc parts. I still don't, but The seller could have been showing me a TX750 with a fancy frame and I wouldn't have know the difference.
