    Katana

Gday again, been on the hunt for a mid size 80s bike, was kinda hoping for a honda cx500, but i happened to find this add, for a 82 katana 650, recon a katana would be a classic?

anything is better than CX from what I understand.

I like the small Katana quite a bit. No real knowledge though.

You could do much worse, but if you can find a 650 chain drive version they are a fair bit quicker and lighter than the smaller shafties.

That katana would be leaps and bounds better than the cx500.

Thats a great little bike and engine.

Really wanna make it fun throw a 89-92 GSXR 1100 engine in there. =)

Hed have to do some serious work to get a chain drive setup in there. Also, the katana 650 engine is the same size as the gs650/gs550 engine. There isn't any more room in the frame for even, say, a gs750 engine, let alone an 1100 engine.

    It's basically a GS650G with 'sport' styling.
The ONLY downside I can remember is the regulator rectifier unit.
When it fails it can take out the generator.
It IS a real good bike apart from that issue which is a common fault on 80's on Suzuki's (still an issue with some models)
