    Shorter Cabels?

Ok so I am a newbie and I have a '73 CB450. I am staring my Cafe prject and need to find out where to get shorter cables when I put on a set of clubmans. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers!

Your gonna' be hearing this Alot from the old guys, so better hear it from me first. Your going to have to make your own. I have a suspision you may be able to get a set of CB175 cables to work, but I'm just guessing. Anyone tried?

    Cheers, A.D.

That's what I was afraid of but I was hoping there was someone out there doing it for people. There was a place near me that used to do it for anyone who asked but they are out of business now.

    AD is right.
You might be able to get some 175 cables to work...throttle should work with some mods...you'd have to shorten the casing a bit to get full travel on the carb slides...can be done carefully with a dremel tool with a cutoff wheel...without having to remove the little cable end.

Front brake would be close I bet...probably no go on the clutch though...you'd have to shorten that.

Some place like Terry Cable will make them for you....send them your old cables and tell them how much shorter you want them.

Once again Joe you have earned your title!!!

If you don't know what your doing with cable making, take it from me, have somebody that knows what they are doing make the cables, it's worth it-especialy the front brake!!!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

    Joe,
Brainiac dude....Terry Cable etc...they don't shorten YOUR cables...you send your cables as templates for the new ones. That's why you send your old cables. Unless of course they tell you they don't need them.

Course I don't have to worry about any of that shit...cause I make my own from scratch.

um, i dont think i said theyll shorten your cables. i said if you send them the cables/lengths you need, they make you some. most of the time they dont need the actual cable if you tell them the application. i know people who have sent the old ones so they know the sheathing lengths etc fittings etc. also, dont go the spiral sheath roue if youre having them made. make sure they use the non spiral. it has less stretch/spring. better lever feel. i think chris has told me that barnett will make them too.
