BSA Spitfire

This is a discussion on BSA Spitfire within the General forums, part of the Caferacer.net Forums category; I think there`s a good demand for professional `bike valeting` or re-commissioning, especially for someone who knows what they are doing like yourself....

The BSA was delivered this morning, so have spent the afternoon making a start. I've already got a fairly long list of new parts, this won't be cheap.
I've taken a few pics especially for Marc.
By the way would the horn be legal in the US?

Pics for me? I don't see why that horn would not be legal. I've done a basic search and the only specifications I come up with are that the bike must have a mirror and a horn audible at a distance of 200' under normal conditions. I think that one will fit the requirements.

I carry a gun because I'm too young to die, too old to take an ass whooping, and a cop is too heavy.

Finished cleaning up the BSA today. Just waiting for a new front number plate to turn up.
Sealed the fibreglass tank this morning, it takes a week to cure so I won't be able to start the bike before then.

Hi Mark I got the sealant from a company in Norwich... tankcareproducts.co.uk
I made a right pigs ear of the attempt. The instructions clearly said that you need to use a digital thermometer, as the tank and sealant needed to be 45c to work properly. I didn't bother, and guessed the temp, big mistake.
So in trying to save a tenner it ended up costing another £37 for sealant. It worked well at 45 degrees.
