Who's going to Bonneville Speed Week?

Looks like I am going to be going for Speed Week. Wayne Jesel (Jesel Valve Trains) built us a dual 4bbl manifold and put 2- 1160's on it to replace our measly 850 Demon carb on the Metro. We are at 265.618 (world record). Ultimate goal for the car is 300mph. I sensed we were at the limit with the set up we had. This new set up should have us closer to 1200hp over the 900 we were putting out with the single carb. He also built a Chevy S-10 Xtreme p/u to campaign. All I have to cover is my meals.

I carry a gun because I'm too young to die, too old to take an ass whooping, and a cop is too heavy.

My entry is in but I won't be gunning for 300. Maybe 1/2 that if the gods smile on me. Regardless, its the only place to be in August.

Its one place you need to visit. Preferably with a bike to run. But spectating can be fun. A lot of interesting machines. Its interesting to see how people think. The only problem is it can bite you and drag you back year after year.

I know Bonneville threads are usually one of the more short lived threads around here. I thought this might be of interest. Alp Sungertekin has been racing Triumphs for a while now and has some records at Bonneville and El Mirage. This weekend was the SCTA June El Mirage meet. Alp has been building a fuel burner 650 with the view to breaking a 20 year old record (145.979 mph). Normally when a fuel engine makes its debut there are little glitches or worse. But today Alp ran a huge 149.274 mph! I'm now wondering just how fast he will go. His bikes are Swiss watch quality and obviously his engines are too.

Alp is on the right with the Franz and Grubb team.

These Bonniville threads are some of the better content in this site. Probably because the actual players post.

This isn't going to Bonneville, but it will be something to watch, when and wherever they find a suitable place for a 1000mph attempt.

I saw something a while back where they had found a "pan" in South Africa. Can't remember the name of the place but it seems its long enough. Bonneville is too "short" for an attempt. Be very interesting to see how they do when they get it all together. In the meantime I'll settle for Bonneville.

I just saw yesterday that the 1000 mph attempt has been postponed until 2016. No reason given. But I'd reckon building that beast isn't going to be done in a hurry. This is why I go to Bonneville every year. A French TV piece on Bonneville. There are a couple of teams coming over from France and two bikes from Italy.
