This day is very joyful for me but also a cause for remembering. My father has since passed a few years ago. He was my library, my counselor and my conscious. I can remember all the stuff we did together. Purchasing my first little bike...an MR50 and spending countless hours together riding..enjoying...just being together. So as now I am a father and my children are soon to be fathers themselves......I can't help but to be happy for my children and saddened by not being around my own father. But thank God for good memories.
What are some of the best times you spend with your father. I also understand that some have never really had a father in their life. But to me a father is not just biological. To me that's the 10% part. The 90% part is actually "being" a father. That often times is fulfilled by an uncle....a mentor.....etc. To me that is the most important part.
My father passed away a month ago, the best times together were on bikes high up on a mountain far away from civilization , we would spend days riding trails to nowhere. When we weren't riding together we were driving trucks together (we have a trucking co. that was started by his dad in '53). He will be missed. Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, be safe, God bless.
I always find a soap box useful to get on my high horse.

I think the kids might be trying to tell me something.....
Beautiful photos of Pops.
Kids took me to a Brazilian steak house.....something I TOTALLY can't afford....and then to an old air show. Up close this time....also something I normally don't do. There was a sign for trial lessons for $99 and my wife said "I'll buy it for you so maybe you can overcome your fear". But no.
Father's day is always a little harder for me. I enjoy my children but miss my father very much....still to this day.
One of the things I wish I had of my father was his old scrambler. Everytime I see the old blue and white color scheme it always spawns fond memories of us together. Like a flash from the past...and elderly gentleman was at the every Wednesday night cruise here locally but was in need of help unloading his old scrambler. Me and my son helped him unload it and it took me right back to my youth. Even the gentleman reminded me somewhat of my father. It was gorgeously done. The theme that evening was "bike night". There was the usual armada of HDs but some real nice other bikes as well. Perhaps it was the color scheme or my fond attachment to it but every time I looked over at the paraded of parked bikes.....my eyes went straight to that old scrambler.
Edit...forgot the pic

I hate todays technology sometimes. I just received a Happy Father Day greeting in a text from my daughter. I'll personally speak to my Dad on the phone. He and Mom are both 86 and going strong.
