    Tight turn fk up.

Ever had that "moment"? Your enjoying a new road of curves and scenery and getting maybe a lil on the edge of your level when the <Oh Fuck> happens. Last turn on this road was a hairpin and I got caught out. Came in to fast, entered late, and came out wide. Like real wide, hood ornament of any driver coming the other way kind of wide. The motorcycle gods were feeling generous and there was no one coming but that didn't make feel any less the idiot. Up to that point it was an epic run but that "moment" of stupid stuck with me for days. Well longer I guess cuz I'm mentioning it now. That 20 kph sign was there for a reason. The turns leading to it were all about the same and I got into a rhythm which was my undoing. Guess it was just a reminder that if your head isn't in the game you may just loose it. Tough one to shake off.

If you're running wide put some pressure on that inside bar and possibly the back brake.

    Had one the other day.
Took the long way home, on the FZ600, after work
After finally getting through downtown Portland, up the hill onto Skyline Rd., dealing with slowpoke Saturday drivers the whole way, I get maybe a mile of clear road. Sorta suburban, feels more rural. Rarely a straight spot. Not to haul ass, just a decent pace that keeps you interested & not looking stupid if a copper comes along. Then I catch up to this effing old Rabbit, full of people. 5-10mph under the speed limit. Just takes the wind outta my sails. To top it off, Rabbit takes a turn onto Germantown R. Where I'm headed as well. Damn.
I'm impatient & start eyeballing for a pass. The spot comes up & I go for it. A bit to much time goosing it around the Rabbit & the next corner comes up quick. Grabbing brake, rear end getting light & I'm fading towards the yellow line after getting back in my lane from the stupid pass. Easing the brakes some for crossing the yellow, I'm tensing up & going dead sailor. Shoulda been pushing on that inside bar! Dumbshit. Go wide into the other lane perhaps 2ft before finally squaring off the corner. Did I mention it's a flat, no camber, descending, RH turn that I can't clear due to hillside & bushes? Yep, dumbshit. Thank Mother Kali the oncoming red Audi was 50yds still down the road. I'll remember that red Audi for a while.
To twist the blade just that much more, another car, very carefully descending the incline, is in front of me now, with the toodling Rabbit slowly filling the mirror from behind. Great, I can just imagine Rabbit people commenting on the dangerousness(?) of motorcycles & the dumbshit in front of them. I tuck my tail & roll home, short shifting the whole way.

I've done that many times over the years but the last time was on GL1800.

Wasn't speeding.....just fiddling with the radio......on a road I've been up and down with numerous machines on since I was 15. Went on the other side of an older lady in an early 80s El Dorado. I'll never forget the look on her face.

All the instinctive wrongs kicked in and I knew it, which pissed me off even more. So pushing the bar a bit never made the list. My bike would have taken that turn quite readily, just not with me on it apparently. The guy with me had just said his brother dropped his bagger on those curves but I should go ahead of him cuz I'd enjoy it more without him in the way. Basically I blasted a road I didn't know and made a pretty obvious fuck up. I will however be working on that hairpin thing in a controlled situation till I get it down. First real hairpin I've found in the area. Great road. Cheers
