It seems that my insurance bill is more per year than the gross national product of several African nations.
It depends what you mean by operable? To be fair the only non operable one is the dream - has had a broken ring for years and has been torn down to fix it for years. Was a good running bike before blowby started.
Everything else has spark and compression, and if I were to put fuel into it would run (exept one H1 and the T500s whose newly rebuilt engines are sitting on the workbench waiting to be put back in). About half the bikes are rideable right now as is. Another 1/4 of that need brake service from sitting and tires (tires are the last thing I do before registering so some have been waiting a long time for tires), but run fine. The two t500s just had the bottom ends rebuilt and as soon as I get small pieces in the mail to finish putting the motors back in I will.
My father, Brother, and I have a group policy which makes good insurance for vintage bike so cheap it is amazing, but the only down side is there can only be 4 bikes on the policy at one time. I have one other policy, but the fleet insurance for all those bikes is so damn much that I am content with only two bikes being registered at one time.
If less than 1 days work is required to be riding then it is operable to me (some are mothballed so undoing the storage procedures to ride one would take at least an hour).
JB,
You've got a GTO, what year? The 65' GTO was tits, stacked headlights, still a fairly small unfettered body, the big torque monster 389, 3 deuces, with a rock crusher behind it. A beautiful distinctive basic no-nonsense muscle car. I also love the 66' and 67' 396 Chevelle's. I had a 64' Chevelle 2 door hardtop 283 Hi-Po and a 64' 2 door hardtop Fairlane 289 hi-po. Best musclecar was a 68' cuda with the 340, absolutely ripped out of the hole. We used to get stoned an find a vacant road, punch it to 120, stop, turn around an go the other way, turn around...was fun.
1984 R100 (Boxer) = 2 (big ones)
73 CB350 = 2
73 CB350 = 2 (on work bench)
2000 Susuki Savage = 1
Snow blower = 1
Lawnmower = 1
21 total. But I am thinking of switching the lawnmower and the savage single, hell there both singles! Since the Savage is my wife's bike and the mower is mine. I figure I could cut yard work time in half. Unfortunately, I think my wife would know something was up when she has to start her bike by rip cord.
