Really? how do you know that? some dubious internet forum no doubt

So the 1983 Shadow VT500C uses the same 491cc engine that the Ascot used. This is not a CB, it's a completely different motorcycle.

So the good news: this is actually a neat little v-twin engine. Also you are not being burdened with the rest of the Shadow, like the frame and forks, and wheels, which is absolute shit.

The bad news: there aren't a lot of frames this engine fits into and it's shaft drive so there aren't a lot of things it interchanges with either.

MY best advice to you is to find a VT500E Ascot with a blown engine or otherwise not running and use this presumably running engine to make that bike run. then you can build something like this:

Actually the Ascot VT is closer to being a pseudo dirt tracker, and the shaft drive tends to limit the possibilities as well as any hope of performing seriously well in competition. But in 1984 at only ~1600$ for a brand new one complete with a full Honda warranty, they were a heck of a good motorcycle deal! That one in Geeto's picture is really nice, but guaranteed it cost way more then 1600$.

the shaft drive would make it a pretty good candidate for an inboard boat motor,
if you can just figure out how to make it have a reverse gear.
