A very interesting bike.. at our bike night! Wasp

We usually get 100 plus bikes at our local night and some fantastic bikes of all sorts... I rarely post pics from the night simply because I don't take pics and just enjoy a beer and a natter but this turned up and caused some interest, a young lad ridden down from Stonehenge in Wiltshire in jeans and work boots on this bike he built...

Evidently he hadn't just stuck Wasp on it ... it is a Wasp and his granddad started the business some 50 years ago.. the bikes not everyone's cup of tea but seemed a nice lad and sums up what our local bike night is all about.. I even managed a few pics...

Interesting fro sure but what is it? Motor is a Yamaha FZ6 Fazer and calipers are blue dots (R6/R1) and the frame is beautifully made. WASP made trials or scrambles sidecars IIRC back in the day, so after a little Googling I found the WASP Motorcycles site Wasp Motorcycles - Page 2 so it looks like they are still in business and must have made that one for fun.

interesting indeed and a real treat to look at ,for sure i would get my ass kicked if i was there my paws would be all over it
carbon fiber or carbon/kevlar wheel spokes eh ? now that is trick
and the wheel hubs tell me about the wheels hubs, george
frame i wondered how they keep nickel plating of the brazings but it is clearcoated not plated ?
why all the other bikes have huge number plates, that is awful
there must be some extreme motorbike haters in control to do something that horrible to you all
they should make the cages run plates much larger based on vehicle weight

Wasp either owned or owns the BSA brand; they built a running prototype and it was never produced...

    I liked it!

wow that's pretty. Betcha it could give the trumpet thruxton a run for it's money in the marketplace if the market wasn't as soft as frozen custard at the moment.

That BSA prototype was in the late 90s I believe. Note the 4LS front brake.

Wasp built (builds?) their own engines, used in racing sidecars and other applications.

I think that should read SIF bronze welded frame - after all it was made in England and that's what they call nickle bronze hot glue process. :-)

Over here it's really hard to get nickle Bronze welding rods. Silicon bronze is close but lower tensile strength.

Mahindra now owns the BSA name. It was owned by a few entities but I don't think that Wasp ever owned them (could be wrong though). Not sure that Wasp ever made their own engines either. They used to have Norton engines and later used XS650 motors and looks like they made a few custom frames over the years to take other motors.

Nice but just doesn't look right in a cradle frame.
