    what engine choice for project bike.

    Looking for ideas for a motor to build a bike around. what 4-stroke EFI motor would you use? preferably not a yamaha or honda just cause i wan't something i haven't played w/ before but I'm still willing to consider.

    wheels and suspension likely from an f4i cause that's what i have lying around, frame and as many other bits as possible will be custom. long term project. bike would end up being more of a gp/track. not looking to make cafe or vintagey in any way.

    a tl1000r would be overkill but it is the best sounding 1000 v twin ever
    so go with sv650
    to do otherwise would be silly

    How about the Rotax out of a 2000ish Aprilia Mille? The bikes are dirt cheap, buy the right one and you could get back most of your cost parting the rest of it out.

    If not vintage, then why?

    buy any modern supersport from 2004 on and race.

    to build a modern track bike is a waste of time unless you have super mega resources or money

    or you are building some supermono lightweight...

    Why EFI? Carbs would simplify things as far as packaging and wiring.

    I like the SV650 suggestion. Tons of custom framed sv650's...

    ugh why must you ruin my fantasy of being the next grant britten w/ your practical, well thought, and correct suggestion of an sv650! no but seriously, i will look into the tl. wasn't on my radar.

    side note, had a chance to get a free 929 motor but may have lost out on that....still up in the air though.
