    EBay

No this is not an anti-EBay rant. Those are too easy.

Ever see an auction with a really low starting bid, and think you want the part? So you bid $1. Bad habit. Do it so that they'll stick out more in my ebay home page.

A week later, you get an email that you've won. Huh. $0.99 for each part. And $15 each shipping.

Well, motorcycle parts aren't light, so I won't bitch about the shipping. Things I didn't need, but might come in handy.

Now, if I can find a pair of RZ350 pipes that way...

yeah, i do/did that too. i mainly do it when there is a reserve, and no bids yet. it's a crazy habit.....worse is when your drinking and bid. i've watched (and sweated) a few auctions on some real pieces of shit, just hoping someone would outbid me on it.

    drinking and ebay don't mix.

I agree, friends don't let friends bid drunk. I have a neighbor with a $300 Pabst Blue Ribbon sign. He drinks alone or I would've hid his password.

I got a gas tank once for $5.

then he charged me $45.00 for shipping.

'Sfunny how low priced items always cost so much to ship... but high priced ones are usually cheaper, isn't it?

well, gas tanks are expensive to ship because of size. When you get over a certain dimension, USPS and UPS start adding fees quickly.

I've been doing that for a while now too. Kind of funny cause I laugh off the outbid notifications.
I was sweating when I bid on those XR100 motard wheels that JoeC outbid me on. Good deal but didn't know how to explain that to the wife at the time.

Glad that I'm not alone. BTW, I don't even bother to bid if shipping is unreasonable.

well guys........ cheap cheap part or expensive shipping

you see, I fork over about 2 g's a month to those greedy blood suckers at ebay and paypal

ebay doesn't nail a seller for shipping fees

if the price of shipping and the price of the part added up makes sense

    why should anyone care?

i am also a fellow ebay hound! i have no clue how anybody restored anything before ebay came along! The new feedback system works pretty well for buyers (though hurts us sellers) and if you think the shipping fee is too much, you can rate that part of the deal seperately. i love that as a buyer, but hate that as a seller because bad ratings make your auctions cost more money to list. Ebay and Paypal (paypal especially) have quite a racket going, but its either put up with it, or never find what you need. so if you buy something and have to pay a rediculous amount for shipping, just give them 1 star in the shipping price category when you leave your feedback. Hackasaw is completely right though, i know where he is coming from as a seller. i have sold stuff that went much higher than i thought it would go, and i got railed with fees! but if you are trying to make $5-10 on shipping, dont ship it usps, because they put the price of the postage on the box...i have nailed several sellers like that!

I have never had a buyer complain when it costs me 5 or 10 bucks more than they paid for shipping

Nor have I ever had one that ever even offered to pay any difference in shipping

the worst was a BMW engine to Thailand

got a quote from FedEx to Thailand

even though I gave them exact dimensions and exact weight and exact destination

once I delivered it to them

    it was 186 more

    I had to eat it

I think any buyer who is feels a seller, especially if the shipping calculator is working in a listing prior to a buyer bidding

is making too much money or treating them unfairly if the seller "makes" a few coins on shipping

needs to go bid on somebody elses listings other than my own

I've been known to carte blanch block prospective bidders who write me asking if I can send something some other way to save them 50 cents or 5 bucks on shipping an item

don't care to be trifled with on big buck items

the shipping costs are simply part of the transaction and just as often as I am in the black with shipping...... I go in the red too

so don't be petty about shipping...... it's a lot of hard work to do it well and do keep in mind that ebay and paypal rob sellers blind

I recently bought a memory card for 99 cents and was tickled the shipping on it was 19 bucks

good for that guy..... I got what I wanted for 20 bucks and ebay didn't bend him over past his ankles

of course paypal still smacks a seller for shipping

and that is wrong since they are owned by ebay
