fill out your bio, at the very least location.

cb650s are not a bad bike, not super great but a pretty solid starting point. That looks like a C model (C for custom - I am not kidding) with a 16" rear wheel.

So what are your plans beside making is like the sikkest whack-out phat daddy bad azzzzz pimp player fur shizzle (insert modern urban metaphor for cool here) ride around?

and while we are here - let's lay some ground rules lest ye be lit up like a roman candle.....

1 - a set of clubman bars and some flat black paint do not make your bike a cafe racer. They may make you a flaming homosexual but we don't actually have the tests to confirm that.

2 - bobbers refer to street bikes that were also flat track bikes from the teens to the early 1960s. All those things that people call "bobbers" today are really early style choppers and not even a good imitation of that. HD's indians, triumps, JAP (the brand not the country), Excelsior-henderson....these are the bikes of bobbers.

3 - IF your bike doesn't run or get down the street under its own power then there is your starting point. Asking about bum stop seats or bars or...god forbid...knee dents before this happens is wasting time. A good solid tuneup is your friend.

Good start, Graig. That bike has plenty of cafe potential. I'd almost forgotten how nice the lines are on those 650s. I'd use the tank as it is. Lose the Sporty mufflers, though.

And lose that seat, too. It looks like a flat tire.

Maybe you can go to a junkyard and scavenge a set of 18" wire spoke wheels?

650s came with wire wheels in 1979 but it isn't a simple wheel swap. With honda when you swap the wheels from comstar to anything else you usually have to swap the calipers and maybe even the forks. There are advantages to the comstars though, like usually they come with better brakes. As for the 18" there is also a 17" or 18" honda comstar for those bikes in the non C models.

There are 3 nice parts about 650s:

    1) The are pretty much the unwanted single cam - so parts are cheap. really it is a looks thing they just dont have as classic a look as the earlier bikes.

    2) The engine fits in the earlier 500/550 frame as a direct bolt in so if you decide you want the earlier look you can find a 500/550 rolling chassis and swing your mill in there.

    3) They are electronic ignition with pulse controllers instead of points.
