At 17 I would have done the same mistakes you are making because I didn't have the kind of outlet this place provides for competent advice. Why are you asking if you admit you are going to ignore it and do things your way. If I was going to ignore good advice I wouldn't have asked for it. The internet is filled with bikes for sale from people exactly like you. Now go away and come back when you can prove us wrong. You're likely to fail your English project.

I carry a gun because I'm too young to die, too old to take an ass whooping, and a cop is too heavy.

So you've never listened to advice?

Thanks o1marc, that's very inspiring. I didn't mean that I'm not going to listen to any advice. I'll listen to advice but not every single piece of advice that people give is good advice. I'm not saying hillsy is wrong because I know he is right... It's just that I don't want to follow that specifific price of advice. I do appreciate advice but I'm not gonna follow something that I feel doesn't apply to me.

Let's get this back on a positive note by each of us saying one piece of quality advice and why. We will then discuss this advice as a group. If anyone agrees or disagrees, say "I agree/disagree because....". If you don't want to take part in this, then don't. Idrc. Just trying to be productive.

That's a little vague. How long do I have to ride a bike for and not die. I mean aren't we lifelong learners. Also, what does "before anything else" mean.

Without riding experience you will have no idea where to begin to improve the bike. You can't go the internet where there are no rules to right or wrong and try and "build" a bike. Only through experience does this education take place. You may find that bike riding is not all it's cut out to be, it happens a lot. I'm lucky to be alive and ride differently than I did as a younger man due to the amount of idiots on the road in cars. When I ride I don't head south towards metropolis, but instead head north to the mountains because it is not enjoyable riding in heavy congestion.
