Ok...which one of you jokers sent me this question about the brake I have on ebay?

"I'm assuming the hub was machined to be in perfect balance after the
    holes were drilled? Thanks, Bob"

    My reply was:

"The holes were drilled using a rotary table on a milling machine, with the
hub fixtured by the bearing bore, so they are perfectly symmetrical. And of
course I've never seen any OEM hub in perfect balance to start with, or for
that matter perfectly concentric with the axle bores. Spin one on a lathe
and it becomes very evident how far off the balance is. I tend to balance my
wheels after assembly, truing and mounting the tire. The tire of course will
be far more out of balance than any other component in the wheel.
Considering a 1 gram asymmetry in the hub balance would be vastly out
weighed by a 1 gram asymmetry in rim or tire balance due to the difference
in rotational speed I rarely worry about minor balance issues in a hub. I've
probably vented and lightened about 50 hubs that have gone to the race track
(three on my own race bikes) and have never encountered a problem.
Considering the machine work has reduced the overall mass of the hub without
adding any balance anomalies my guess is that it's actually in better
balance than it was in stock form. Of course that's just a guess, I'd
probably have to send it to NASA or something to get the final word on that "

Ok...what USCRA member from South Freeport Maine is bidding on the brake?

If a USCRA wins it, and plans on using it on a race bike, let me know, I'll arc the shoes before I send it if you are willing to wait a few days for shipment. Shoes need to be arc'd for racing. Would be fine on a street bike as is. Won't provide this service for other buyers, but I don't want my race brake reputation damaged in the USCRA.
