I know around six guys who bought them new. Three or four of them still own them I think. None have ever said a good thing about them. They all mentioned how very fast they were in a straight line. I think the handling just plain scared them, even though most were road racers. I think they just stored them away, hoping that some guy who's impressed by big H mystique and red paint, and not knowing that they are not very good to ride, will give them plenty of cash for one. As the memory of what a big disappointment the model was, fades. They just gather dust, forgotten.
Tires are a drama, as far as I know, with few suitable ones currently available. The air/spring rear shock would be worn out and/or need a service after 35K. The fork may even need new bushes by now, and it's up in the air if any are available as a Honda part these days.
Parts availability and prices could be a killer. The model was always one of limited availability and a premium price.
Some of them had carbon fibre in the fairing and/or bellypan. So you can imagine what bodywork cost, even decades ago, let alone now.
A ratty VFR would be a far better motorcycle to ride, period.
