header wrap/ heat tape pros vs. cons
does anyone in the forum have an opinion on the header wrap/ heat tape issue? i've had at least 4 friends that work for the local NASCAR teams (Mooresville NC "race city USA") tell me conflicting issues and benefits of the stuff and each is entirely subjective. the use of wrap/tape on a cl/cb 360 would be pretty different than the big v8's the shops use, but similar in principle. so opinions would help, and experience w/ the stuff is a big help. thanx
-does it weaken the pipe?
-does the retained heat weaken the pipe or the moisture from riding in cool weather/ rain?
-do u tie it off every foot or so or just at beginning and end?
-does it fade/ discolor at a certain rate?
-does it really improve the function of the engine in a noticeable manner?
