I don't know.........the mojave tanks have their place on certain platforms......the Ducati maybe.

It's when they end up on an 1983 GS1150 or an 1984 interceptor that looks weird.

I disagree. I think those tanks look great on some stuff.

    See.

So...there is something else that happened at the same time that make the mojave tank valuable. As it was pointed out Cosmo had those tanks for years and couldn't give them away. What happened is Benjie's work started to get popular around the same time:

aside from a few old race bikes like the manx norton, you really didn't see that "resting water bubble" shape on road racing and old performance motorcycles. He popularized that shape but his stuff was kind of limited and really expensive. Around that time people noticed the mojave tank had kind of the same shape and fit smaller bikes better, plus they were $20-$50 depending on the mood cosmo joe was in.

A bit of interesting (though unrelated) trivia: The Mojave frame and bodywork were re-purposed from the stillborn 650 Scorcher twin. When the 650 project was axed in the prototype stage, the major components were used instead to make parts-bin specials with the existing single-cylinder motor.

I wish I could see the article on the 350 Ducati. And the drag Sportster for that matter
