I think I need want to do a full engine tear down and rebuild but I am having a hard time finding a rebuild kit. Any suggestions? I have checked all the sites I can think of and all I can find is gasket sets. I was thinking I might want to do a kit that has new pistons and such, maybe even a bore over kit if I can. See wat I can do to bump that bad boy up over 27bhp

get rid of the counterbalance stuff and if it don't blow up it will certainly spool up faster.

Id like to have a top speed over 65. I suppose I could lose weight... but that just sounds stupid

how much do the counterweights and the chain driving them weigh? are your wheel rims steel or alloy, do you need an electric starter motor and that chain and it's clutch too? You are stuck with a primary drive chain and sprocket teeth formed right onto your crankshaft that can only take so much extra power so pistons and valve and intake and exhaust mods would certainly test that.

    Weight reduction bro!

But in all seriousness, the bike feels way under powered. That could be due to the fact that its 36 years old.
I don't quite understand Kawasaki's thought process on the transmission, it's a 6spd, but I can tell no difference between 5th and 6th. RPM stays the same and I cant go any faster in 6th than in 5th. Most of the roads around here are 65mph roads, but we do have a few that are 75, would be nice to be able to do that.

If you lighten your crankshaft, you can't lose weight off it anywhere better way then that bro

even a paint shaker needs power:

I don't know what the answer would be. All I know is when I hit 55ish, i find myself reaching for another gear only to find I'm already in 6th and she has no more gears to give me. I might be just throwing time and money at something that will never be any more than a around town scooter that I can spruce up.
