It’s far from a professional job, but I sewed a seat from goat hide leather. At some point, I’ll farm it out to a pro, but I was quoted $400 and I’m nowhere near paying that on a seat right now.

Now it's a Sarcoplasmic Goat Hellride
I use as few seams as possible and stretch it on there as tight as possible.
400$ is outrageous if it was cut out of a scrap leather chair but if you had to purchase the leather new & install :/ 400 sounds about right imho.

The quote is from Rich Grabbe, Rich Phillips Cycles. I have no doubt it's worth every penny of $400. I could do vinyl a bit cheaper @$360. I'll get the work done by them eventually. Right now, I'm the hook for just $30 worth of goat hide.

Unless you are stuck on goat hide, you could try this: https://www.sailrite.com/Allsport-4-...abric-Non-Slip
They also have tons of videos showing how to make patterns, types of seams etc etc. I've bought stuff from them and have been good to deal with. If you are sewing tricky seams that require 5 hands, then check out their basting tape. Two videos on m/c seats. Both ugly seats, but informative videos. Be aware that it can be a slippery slope. For some unknown reason I now have two industrial sewing machines.

Found this for $150... unfortunately it was set up to churn out 1,000 pairs of panties per day, so I had to replace the motor with something that would chug over at very low rpm, so another $150 on Ebay.

    the seat looks great !
i see a shining oportunity ,both functional structurally and pleasing to the eye
right now when i look at the center mass of the bike the un pretty upper shock mount sticks out like a sore thumb
you have an oportunity to make that center of the bike look awesome simply by laying a long tapered gusset on the outer edge of the tube and running below a good six inches and above the mount up to seat rail level
i am talking speed holes babe like what i did on the african twin
speed holes need to have equal margins to gusset edges all around and between each one
and lform it give it some curveature coming off the tube roll back the long edge just a bit skip weld it to the tube 14 gauge would be fine

I've been tacking together a plan for the exhaust system. Likely a reverse cone post elbow.

Yep. It didn't give the throttle and choke cable good clearance, so I was already making that happen. Looks a treat, too.

Edit: I forgot to post a pic of the other side. Since the engines on these aren't symmetrical, the headers can't be either.
