Topped up my oil while camping in BC. Forgot to put the plug back in. Made it a 1/2 a km down the road with oil pissing out all over my leg. Had to retrace the route and actually found the cap. $250 riding pants fubar'd though. The things I yelled at myself that day left me scared.
If you can't pick it back up, don't ride it.

Just have the oil stains covered up with "reinforcement" patches

Was it the bud or the altitude? If you are coming through the Coq , make sure you check the weather. Was out today on the MG coming across on the ferry. Spoke to a guy on a RT1200 headed east to Kelowna. His wife texted him and said it was snowing up there.

I am ordering the tubing for the subframe and some silicon bronze. It'll be my first project with the brazing stuff other than practice.
Fit up is gonna be a bitch.

Well..... I didnít take one photo. Taking the ferry over to the islands has become sort of routine. I do it about 12 times during the summer and a couple of times during the winter. This trip cost about $60 return with the bike. Sometimes I just go as a walk on, so about $12. Iím heading back there next week, so will try and remember to take a few photos. It is amazing scenery.

Good luck with the bronze. I did that stainless intake a while back and it turned out ok, but hard not to melt the base metal. Hopefully it will be a bit easier with mild steel, but I gather you are using fairly thin stuff?

Pin this on your shop wall. Iíve posted it before.... pretty sure it was done with oxy acetylene though.

Yes it’s an art form. Weld Porn? Reminds me of when I hide under the covers reading machine tool catalogs. I’ve always wanted to be able to run beads like that. Probably have to take out a bank loan to pay for the silicon bronze and argon. Speaking of stupidly... I needed a flange for a stainless exhaust stub. Instead of farting around cutting one out ( plus the stuff work hardens and knackers the hole saw) I decided to run a quick bead around the end of the pipe and then chuck it in the lathe. So anyway... just a quick bead, so why bother changing out of the short sleeved shirt. I now know why. The exposed area between the gloves and the shirt sleeve still looks a little fried. Doesn’t take much. Unless I’m missing something, it’s way harsher than MIG or stick. Still amazed how differently the arc behaves on DC. Buddy stopped by with an alloy oil tank off his flat tracker. Needed a cracked seam welded up and new mounts. Now I want a helium tank and a water cooled torch. Welding the stainless added a duel flow regulator to the never ending wish list.

So back to the photo... do you know if that is TIG or gas? I have the oxy propane setup for heating and have brazed with it once. Another different ball game. Hot part of the flame is nowhere near the same as Oxy acetylene. Not sure if that was part of the problem. I was just goobering together another torch rest/guide, so appearance doesn’t matter......can’t see myself running beads like that with gas..... ever.
