    N00b Intro

    All,
Figured I'd give a quick intro: I just acquired a CL450 (Hopefully picking it up this weekend !), and have the usual plans to cafe it a bit.
Background: I started my motorcycle life off with a nice CB360T, which I sold two days after completing it (Got made an offer I couldn't refuse...). Ever since then I always wanted something close to it; but perhaps a little more racy.

The gods smiled upon me, and granted me this:

So the plans are for the usual tank/seat/etc. However, I am going to keep the CL front end, along with the high pipes.
I am interested in ditching the electric start (although I'd probably just core the starter, and leave the shell in place for aesthetics), but I do need enough electric ballos to run lights and blinkers. So Im sure I can get away with a nice small battery under the seat.
For the most part - what does everyone do for this ? Completely ditch the main harness and make anew, or will the old harness allow for the movement of the reg/rectifier up under the seat ?
Also I've been looking around at rearsets and found these - anyone give 'em a go ?

They also have some adjustable clubmans that look sweet (yes, I followed the flame posts re:cheap clubmans). Before I restart that; let me state that I will be keeping the stock fork ears; so screw you and your clubman hate-or-ade (that said, my clubmans will prolly cost more than your clipons anyway <img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>..)
Lastly, I need to decide on color. Right now Im thinking either red/white (ala typical honda)or black/silver. Time will tell.

    Cheers !

    -Steve

Well buddy, sounds like you've thought this one through. You don't need to completely rewire, you can move regulator/rectifier without ditching the harness (though if you need, I believe I've got a simplified CB450 wiring diagram somewhere around here if you feel like running just the bare necessities). If you go with a lower a/h battery for size purposes you might want to consider a spst switch on one of the three charging circuits - or perhaps consider wiring it into the headlight circuit and then run with your headlight on at all times. Or not, SLAs are cheap and they don't explode (often).

MG Innovations makes a starter block-off plug to fill the hole where the starter used to be. There's nothing aesthetically pleasing about a heavy-ass lump of shit bolted to the front of an engine.

those rear sets are nice but way too expensive in my opinion. better to rig some from another bike, try doing a thread search for more on that. dig those pipes.

Ha - point taken. Would be a good spot to keep a sammich or something nice and warm on the way to work tho...

If you do have that wiring schematic, I'd like it.

I need to get the carbs rebuilt sometime this week, and I just want to ride the hunk around for a couple of weeks before I begin taking it all apart.
