    K&S are dealer only, generally not expensive stuff but not available direct
    500 and 550 are similar enough wiring to swap over, you probably have more than one issue though.
    the newest 550 harness will be at least 34 yrs old, fitting a 500 harness it will be at least 3~4 yrs older, probably not the most sensible thing to do?
    You have all the information you need, your not colour blind are you?
    The switches will have to connect to the correct harness colours, not 'colour to colour' as original, you haven't tried 'everything' or it would be working.
    Get a cheap multi meter ($5.00 or less) and make sure wiring harness is good before going any further (check on ohms for wire continuity)

    i did use a multimeter (fluke brand). i did end up testing the entire system. One of the switch leads ended up being mislabled. pulled apart the switch and sorted it out. still going to install the 550 harness but dreading haveing to re-wrap another one. Guess ill just need to bite my tongue and do it anyway.
