    jaguar,
Well my S90 that lives mostly in a box (except the frame which hangs from the shed rafters) was new too once, wonder if that guy will swap even? I don't understand the obsession with open element air filters on these things. If you ride a bike, eventually it will end up getting rained on. Thats life. I know the stock airbox is atrocious (but the big scoop with butterflies is even more hideous) but there has to be a weather protected air filter...

Havent bought it yet, but its a 99. Everything points to a bolt together crank.

So I am sitting here calculating. Looks like I will be down for this at a minimum (assuming nothing else is trashed and the rods and pin he has is correct):
    Gaskets: $150
Rings: $50 (have seen cheaper but just estimating)
Oil pump drive gear: $100 (holy crap!)
    Main bearings: $75
Misc (sealers, possible carb kit): $150

That puts me at $525 MINIMUM for repairs and it could be much much worse. I wont know until i go see it.

actually $1500 in the bike and $1900 in repairs - that put you at $3300 which isn't bad provided that is all it needs. See if you can get it cheaper, I've seen buell cyclone rollers for $800.

If it's a bolt up crank it's dead easy to do and get perfect.
Press up crank would be a deal killer as it needs around 45~55 tons to separate or press up (compared to 3~12 tons on import two stroke cranks)
Because of the difficulty in doing a press up crank it would be way safer to either get a new one or pay to have it done
Personally I've done thousands of crank builds but wouldn't do a press up HD/Buell, if something goes wrong it could kill you and if it doesn't go together 'perfect' it isn't possible to true it by 'normal' means (lead hammer)

ouch... I would probably track down a buildable used crank. S&S loves their stuff. I prefer the X1 to the cyclone. Cyclones are a bit more plentiful around, but plentiful is a relative term. There may be 8 cyclones for every lightning but 450 imports for every cyclone. lol We will see.

I'm pretty sure unless it was bastardized at some point prior this one has a bolt together crank.
