1982 Honda VF 750S Stop and Taillight Box.

Hi, first time poster here. Im having a go at building my first cafe racer out of a 82 VF 750. When i was stripping it down i noticed the box in the back for my taillight. It sits in a dumb place and im planning on replacing the stock rear lights.
My question is, do i need the Stop and Taillight Box or i can feed the new taillight directly without it? Im really crap with the electrical part of building and plan to learn as i go.
    Best regards Tony

If the wiring diagram I found applies to your bike, there is more than one control box, so the simple answer is yes, unless you plan to rewire the entire motorcycle from scratch and it doesn't really sound like you are up to that task you are better off keeping it.

Yep what Trials said pretty much. When your crap at electrical don't do electrical. Of coarse there is always option 2 $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
If you can't pick it back up, don't ride it.

Fair enough: so just incase you are wondering what the black box is for, it's mostly to control the warning light on your instrument cluster that tells you when your tail lights have burned out.

Oh, sweet! That was my next question. Then i think ill get rid of it since i wont be using stock instruments. Most of the electrical stuff ill do is just that, removing stuff i wont be using that used to be in the instrument cluster. Ill keep everything needed for safety, like lights, turnsignal and speedo.
    Thanks alot for the info.
