    eBay Honda Cylinder Kit???

    Hi all.

I bought a 1975 CB-125s last night. Although it has under 800 miles on it, it looks like it has spent most of its life in a damp garage or basement. The bore is rusty and the piston is stuck. I plan to get it running and use it to poke around the neighborhood. Maybe take it to Mid Ohio next year to run around on.

Don't have the head off, yet, to see how bad the bore is, but was poking around eBay last night for top end gaskets, etc. I came upon several ads for kits containing a new cylinder, piston, rings, pin, circlips and gaskets, starting at $39.99 shipped.

Do any of you have experience with these kits? I'm skeptical. Not planning to put 10,000 miles on the bike, just don't want to buy garbage.

    Thank you, in advance.

    Sean,

There are several sellers, listing what appears to be the same kit. I think cruzin image is one of them.

    Woodsman,

Thank you very much for directing me to that site and for reminding me that you get what you pay for

Hopefully a hone and rings will renew it, only 800 miles.

Not all aftermarket is the same though.
Have used some of those silly cheap pistons and could not tell the difference between OEM quality. Others for the same price had casting voids and were junk.

Some times things come around that are so singularly inept it gives you a whole new appreciation for the ept

I'm with you seanbarney41. I have bought quite a bit from Mitsuo at Cruisin' Image and couldn't be happier. First thing was a gasket set and oversize piston set for my 400/4 historic racer. That was about five years ago. Still flies. (Shame about the rider, though!)

yes, had them / the cruz ones,
in a GT500 I raced for a few years. it was a low rev 2 stroke but never a problem. have them in my FC/H1 race bike and wrecked 2 of the 3. that was cause the crank DNF'd and not the pistons.thinking about getting a set for the CMR/KAW 738-810 but when I asked if they knew what the CR was of the pistons there answer got lost in translation.
