Electrial Problem! blinker winker turn signals...

    Hello all:

I am brand new to this forum. i have been reading and using this site as a reference point for a while now. but have run into this problem:

I am rewiring a mess of a harness on My honda CB500f 1973. I am at the stage of the wiring the switchs. i have it all wired or so i thought... right now as it stands when i turn on the Left turn signal switch i can hear the winker working. but not on the right hand side. and that is the inly thing that works... the actual LFT hand blenker does not work...

I looked at the winker and only the grey wire and the black wires are connected. The green, or ground is not connected to the winker, because there is no terminal for it to connect. so i goto my local auto store ad pick up a universal one and plug it in... and nothing. now nothing works... not L or R.

so (keep in mind whoever attempted the wiring before did it with a blindfold on, i assume) I switch back to the original winker and swap the wires... thinking maybe he has the wrong wires going to the lead... and to my amazement. it works exactly the same... The L clicking but no light...

i am stumped... sorry for the drawn out story. any ideas?

how do the terminals look on the inside of the switch housing? it does not take tons of crud to affect a proper electrical connection. old fatigued wires can break on the inside with no external indication, so a multimeter or continuity test may be helpful at this point in your endeavour.

Could you possibly switch your wires in the headlight for a quick troubleshoot? so that flipping the switch for the left hand blinker would activate the right hand blinker, and see what results. if it clicks, there may be a faulty connection on down the line.

I hate to ask, but there is a functional bulb in the left side blinkers, correct? i knew there was but had to ask.
I have always wondered why all previous owners insist on modifying their wiring. Hell, i do it too but am usually the product end user. good luck, keep us posted.
