    thoughts on these...

I snagged these on ebay...any thoughts... they are slightly longer than my stock rear shocks so i hope to get a little more ground clearance (my front forks are slightly longer too, I got them slid up in the triples to arrive at stock ride height in front).

Any thoughts? Complete junk? Rebuildable? Any clue what they came on?

Those look like the stockers of a CB900f. They should raise the rear end, but I am not sure how much they will improve the rear wheel control. They are the Honda FVQ shocks which I think stood for Fade Very Quickly.

I will eventually but funds are tight right now. (insert violin playing smiley here) Its a choice between these, cheap chinese units, my ratty originals or no bike this summer. If there is anything I can do to make them work better while I have them off I will do it, otherwise I will put them on and run as is.

    Great shocks . A CB900F upgrade I think . Only bad thing's that they're not rebuildable . CycleXchange has brand new 13" Progressives for 139$ . I nabbed a set . Great shocks .

Stock (not optional) CB900f shocks (and some 1100F models also). These were a back in the day upgrade to SOHC cb750s since the stockers were pretty shitty. But that is when they were new, now a days who knows what 20 years of use and abuse has done to them.

Put them on, they are better than what you have (leaking huh? yeah that is shot). The only improvement you can make is to put new rubber bushings in the bolt areas (swingarm and the top of the shock). I think they may have been made by Showa originally for Honda.

There is a switch at the bottom of them that should allow you to adjust valving - for 1982 these were some space age shit!
