    Summit Report

Well, many were missing, but the lucky few who made it were treated to perfect conditions this time. Midge's loss puts all of this in perspective, and of course it was a quieter gathering without the traditional fire barrel.

Things went awfully smoothly for the vintage folks, no crashes that I know of, and I don't think the ambulance rolled at all Saturday.

WERA hasn't posted results yet, but to the best of my recollection Bucky & BJ split 350 & 500GP wins, I took V1 and Rich Oldakowski won F500 & V2, with Hirko dominating 250GP on his Bridgestone.

I will admit that I was too relaxed to actually observe the V3/V5 & V4/V6/F2stroke races...anyone know what happened. I know Jesse Morris and Craig Charles showed on their beautiful, fast Tridents, and that Scott McKee ran away in V6lw on his rocket fast FZR400 (520?).

The track was very smooth except for T3, which was a miserable mass of wrinkled asphalt from cars racing on fresh pavement. I was losing at least 1/2 sec in that turn, but had fun chasing Rich's Yamaha. Actually passed him in the V2 race briefly, until I saw two large deer run across the track right to left directly in front of me coming out of T3. I'll admit that took the wind out of my sails, and I forgot to open the throttle all the way letting Rich by... It was just a matter of time anyway.

My videos are a bit odd, but might be of interest so here they are:

They're both from the V1/350GP/F500 race since I let both cards fill up, new camera forward got about half the race, old camera rear mounted got the whole thing. It's obvious what I need to work on before I make another video, but at least I got the camera off my helmet and onto the bike.

Thanks for the report Eric. I have to say I had one hell of a battle in the 250GP race. Not really sure who else was out there with me but it was great fun.

Didn't I see a video camera on another Honda? Anyone get some actual racing footage?

DOH!! Don't feel bad. I use my camera for ballast all the time. Bet it would have been good though.

So, what happened in the race w/Bucky? And what was up with Christian's Honda? Looked like it was running at 1/4 throttle. [:0]
