Who should I join, USCRA, WERA Vintage, AHRMA, ?

I'm ready to join a race group, which one? I'm finishing up a CB350K4 race bike that I plan to race next year...what group would you join, AHRMA, WERA vintage, VRRA? Also, I need to get my race license (haven't raced in years) what race school in the East or South East?

Wow, in PA your options are good. You could logistically run in any of those clubs fairly easily. USCRA and WERA races will probably be about the same distance for you. Since AHRMA doesn't appear to be running Beaver Run this year I'm not sure what your options are there. You'll have to join both USCRA and WERA if you want to run a full schedule.
It will be easier to win races in WERA

you only need to join wera if you run 3 or more races. they clip your uscra license corner when you run. i guess technically, you might be able to get away with doing 4 races, show the uscra papers 2x, then your ahrma papers 2x. but theyre way more organized the the uscra, and most likely will catch it. it also means no points if youre not a member. the wera license is 90 bucks. so, id get the uscra papers, then see what you think. wera has way more events and the entries are cheaper. but youll need a transponder. so it can be looked at as more expensive. you can run that bike with wera. tex can let you know whats close by as far as races.

    see you at summit!!

    wally,

summit will be 3 hours travel for you. nelson will be approximately five hours. beaver run will be four hours travel. loudon will be seven to eight hours. vir will be eight or nine hours. thunderbolt (millville, nj - when it is completed will be four to five hours).

you got a lot of options. wera racing for the cb350 classes is a blast (8 cbs, plus other 350gp bikes....ducatis, etc), plus we have the best late night b.s./drinking/& hell raising sessions.

    texy

p.s.- have you ever dreamed of being a flying wallenda? we need a new fifth man, and clancypants still needs to replace his wheel bearings.

Travel time isn't a problem, I'm retired, have an enclosed trailer, Ford Explorer a wife that works AND rides so things are pretty cool. Just have to decide where to get my license and what group to join. I rode my Ducati 916 from Pa. up to Mosport last Spring, that's why I was considering VRRA. Mosport is a super track and all the guys I've been E-mailing back and forth have been helpful. But WERA has more action and I can also do some NESBA Track days on my 916 to learn some of the tracks. DECISIONS,,,,,,,,,DECISIONS.....
    Cheers,
    Wally

Don't forget RACE in Shannonville. They do several Vintage days as well as Sportsman Lightweight. Which by the way I got 3rd overall this year on my little 350 twin!
Also RACE has their own school for getting your licence, not sure of the cost of that. They do offer a deal at the December Bike Show in Toronto for renewals, free test and tune day in April if you renew before January 1st. This year the licence was $60.00 (Canadian)
A typical weekend for me this year was entry into Vintage Challenge A (P1 vs P2), Vintage Challenge B (P3 vs P4) and Sportsmen Lightweight.
All the above cost $180.00 plus you can rent a transponder for $95.00 for the weekend, then get $45.00 cash back on Sunday at the end of the racing program.
So for $230.00 (Canadian) you get:
    Entry into 3 classes
At least 2, possibly 3 practice sessions on Saturday
    3 heat races Saturday
At least 2, possibly 3 practice sessions on Sunday
    3 finals on Sunday

Here is the contact information for RACE, Chris Chapelle is the guy to talk to.

Hope this is of some help.
