i took the hawk racing school, and look at me now. it wasn't all bad, a little short (like over in one hour, including track time), but considering that i think it cost me $60.00 bucks to get a license and that i got to race that weekend, well, i really don't know my point exactly.
i think one thing that george covered which is tremendously valuable to a new/green racer, which is race proceedure, flags, and track etiquette. also i cut my teeth on a 12hp derbi, so how much trouble could i get into.
i've heard great things about penquin school from chris marshall. he took it out at mid-ohio, on the practice day before ama vintage days/ahrma meet.
caio,

hawk school for 60, or penguin for 300......which would you do?? i did the penguin, lots of modern bikes with electric starters. it was me, a guy on an mt125, a norton 750 street bike, for vintage stuff. the mt broke down. the norton had a starter. gee, look at the fool trying to bump start his bike in t-3. when we did follow the leader, even wide open, i was passed by the groups behind us when i was in last place, and when i was 1st, i was riding my ass off to go as fast as i could. it was definitely the most fun ive had on my race bike so far.

Tex,
Is that the school I taught???

for the record, hawk school is not $60. it's well into the triple digits for a hawk school track day.

john,
i don't know, what were you wearing?
actually the only thing i do know is there was some fellow on a 350 aermacchi in my group w/instructor on the track, that and i beat that guy in our mock race. his bike had to have been broken!
caio,

That sounds like Gary Jedniak (sp). Super nice guy...but not very fast.
