did you have to go to racing school to race with either uscra or lrrs etc??? im assuming you didnt have to go to school to be a passenger right?? or did you?? and you had to join the uscra to be a passenger, so did you have a comp license when you first joined?? in other words, were you able to get around going to racing school since you had been a passenger for so long??? or dont you want to answer that here?
just curious

Joe,
The whole "license" thing is kind of bogus with the USCRA, there really isn't such a thing for vintage racing. Just your membership card. Not since day one have I ever had anyone ask to see my penquin card either at the USCRA or AHRMA or VRRA. All anyone has ever required was a USCRA membership card.
It would be very easy to go racing with the USCRA having never attended a school or any other race.

johnnyB is right, and it's a big problem. i didn't have to take a school for being a passenger, and yes i probably could have raced solo without a license. but, my first solo experience was in LRRS, and they make you take penguin school. so i got onto the track via sidecar without a license, but never rode solo without one. in all honestly i probably would have survived without penguin school, but i definitely learned things that were helpful. plus, they introduce you to the whole process of racing, from start procedure to cool down lap and pit-in.
i think making school mandatory is a great idea. DeCamp's Hawk school is a good program, but making it mandatory would require more dates and a more extensive program i think. that would all cost money, and it's not cheap as it stands now.
i'm short on answers just like everyone else.

I'm just short. I stand 3feet and 7inches tall.
I know a few people who have managed to get licences with out going to Penguin school and it shows. There dangerous and they suck.

you know, ive heard georges school is just like a track day. but that was back when it started. i know you do some instruction there. and other uscraers. i was just wondering if you got a "membership" card when you had to join the uscra. and if you did, was it what the regular racer guys get. ( i thought as a passenger, you had to be a uscra member) ive never had to show any school stuff either. just gave the wera folks my uscra card, and that was it.
blah blah blah.....
