1977 cb750 k wiring and lights... how was it stock

Ok, I'm in the process of putting my cb750 back together and I've got an electrical problem.

1)When I turn it on, the neutral light turns on, and stays on. The neutral light stays on weather it is in neutral or not. But, it does get brighter when it's in neutral. Is it supposed to be like this? My guess is I have a crossed wire somewhere, but I don't want to go chase it down and find out it's supposed to always be like that.

2) What lights are supposed to be on all the time? I know the headlight is supposed to be on, but one of the turn signals is always on too. It also flashes when I turn the signal on, but the rest of them are off until I turn on the flasher. Are they supposed to run all the time as running lights or are they supposed to be off and only used as indicators?

3) Same thing with the tail light. Is it a tail light or just a brake light? Right now it's off until I hit the brake. Is that normal?

Thanks for your help.

first off you should get a factory service manual and a clymer/haynes repair manual, as 1 or both will have a wiring diagram which will answer most of these questions. second, if your bike is similar to mine (which is a 500T) your headlight, taillight, and front turn signals should all be on when the bike is on and the headlight switch is in the lo-beam setting. when in high beam the front turn signals will not be on, though. third, the taillight is the brake light. it will get brighter when the brakes are applied. so, you're probably right about something being crossed. so, get some manuals, pop open the junction box (behind the headtube and below the tank) and make sure everything is wired correctly. my guess is that it's not. good luck.
