1st, I got the XR100 front brake to actually work, had to put a spring in between the actuator arm and the cable boss. I don't think there was a spring there originally, but there is now.
2nd, I rebuilt the Front M/C on my son's VFR700, popped the battery in, and took it for a nice evening ride, the first road ride of the year for me. And the front brake worked.
It's the simple things in life....

I never looked at one but would figure the internal springs are weak or missing or there is ussually a large mechanical spring, around the base of the arm (like a carb throttle plate return spring). But your right every day I wake up the sun is shining no snow am so glad i got out of Boston and moved to florida weather is no longer a thought the sun is alway out here.It is the little things that make you go ahhh!

Im so far behind ,that I think Im in first.
