2002 VTR 250 fork conversion

Just wondering if anyone out there had put a GSXR 600-750 front end onto a 2000+ VTR 250?
I've heard people do the swap but I can't find any

I've got my hands of the gsxr front end but I'm trying to work out what bearings will fit this conversion.
I'm kind of stuck at the moment because I pulled apart the triple tree to measure everything and noticed that the VTR bearings are stuff and need replacing.. so now I can't even ride my bike until I work this one out..

Anyone out there able to help me out with some knowledge?
Cheers

And it does the job of finding the right bearings for you.

Although, just keeping the VTR front with new bearings will be a better option IMO.
Thanks mate, but they don't seem to have the VTR 250 on their list..

Ah - it's a US site (I dont think they sold the VTR250 over there).

So, you'll need to get some vernier calipers and measure up what you need. You'll need the diameter of the GSXR stem (top and bottom) and the neck inner diameters on the VTR frame. Then google the measurements and find your bearings.
Yeah, I got it sorted.
Thanks mate, now I have a speedo issue.. haha GSXR don't use a cable like the VTR.. not sure what I'm going to do to fix it..

Do what I do; just assume that everybody is breaking the speed limit by 10k and travel with the flow of traffic
oh, and don't pass anything that looks like a cop car
bicycle speedo with magnetic pickup.
Bit late to the party 😅

I'm actually quite keen to do the same thing to my VTR 250! Given that one's already been done, and you guys probably know a heck of a lot more than I do, could you please elaborate on what work needed to be done to finish the whole swap?

With the front end swap, was it just the bearings that needed changing between the triple clamps? Or were there other parts that needed changing/swapping or modifying? Also, what would be the best way to go about in regards to fitting the ignition barrel and sorting out the steering lock?

Many Thanks!

What, you're going to stick the USD front end off a 600cc sportbike onto a tiny little Honda 250 frame? Why would you even want to?
Multiple reasons really:

I really like the look of USD vs RSU forks, and my little VTR 250 is kind of my Sh**s and giggles bike anyway.

It's already got a full crash cage on it, and I mainly use it for low speed shenanigan's like wheelies, stoppies, sliding and just throwing it down the road in carparks. Hence having the much stiffer front end and more powerful brakes is sort of what I'm after.

But because parts are a pain to get and rather costly in my neck of the woods, I just wanted to get a rough idea of the workload involved before taking it on as a project.

The other idea I've been messing around with is swapping YZF-R3 forks in as they're both 41mm forks, and there's a lot more suspension kits out there for R3's than there is for VTR 250's. Main advantage being I can keep the OEM triple clamp, but it's sort of my backup idea as if I'm going to do something stupid like a front end swap on a worthless 250, I might as well all out and make it crazy!

I put the wrong forks on the wrong bike before too. It was the act of a pre-pubescent teenager that didn't know any better, but I grew up real fast so that experiment only lasted a few hours, then I put it all back together again the way it was suppose to be. ymmv.
