I was going to say judging by the pics you are running a little lean...then I read your post, lol. I don't know what's in the X14IED but I run an O2 Optimiser on the Aprilia, which pretty much does the same thing. It's basically an inline potentiometer (adjustable resistor) that sends a 'message' to the ECU that the bike is running lean, resulting in the ECU 'correcting' the AFR. I installed it because the Shiver is famous for poor closed loop response, especially around idle and take off. Also, because it's a tropical climate here and the Aprilia runs very lean due to Euro compliance, I wanted it to run a little richer/cooler.
After I installed it, I noticed an immediate change in the bikes behavior. No choppiness/snatchiness around idle and take off, and less exhaust popping on decel. There is still some popping but that's because the exhaust has been decat-ed and I'm running aftermarket cans.
I would reckon the X14IED would be worth trying if they are the same. Judging by the pics they are not adjustable like mine, and probably have just an inline fixed voltage resistor. Might still be worth a try.
