350 two cam chain etal
So I have this THracing cam chain tensioner gizmo.. I plan on putting it in between now and summit..talking to Scott on the 12 HOUR ride home we came to the conclusion that while I have it apart I might want to do the rings and that I will need a new cam chain since the one I have stock does not break anywhere. Joe C., Tex and anyone else that has opened these things up... what do suggest and where do I get it ? I was going to call westernhills and order some OEM stuff but wanted to know if you had a better idea...

Bring all the parts and we can do Saturday night at Summit. I'm a great wrench when drunk, ask Tex.
If you need help with your PVL, let me know. I have the mounting plates and an engine crank seal mounting plate, but the seal plate requires tapping your cases to hold it on, and, in an ideal world, the left side of your crankcases where the crank sticks out would be machined flat (since Honda didn't bother to actually make the top and bottom halves line up nicely in 1967). Buff uses a similiar seal plate but doesn't bother to machine the cases flat, just puts tone of Yamabond behind it.
The plates are hand machined so they ain't super cheap, but they work.
The cam chain isn't hard to do, but it does require full diassembly of the engine. You can put the tensioner in by just pulling the top end, and reusing the old chain. The slipper tensioner ( I sell them too by the way) is teflon so its not too harsh on the chains. You will have to open the cam chain tunnel in the head towards the intake ports, as the tensioner is a too big to fit in there. I just do it with an air grinder, but you'll have to disaseemble the head and clean it, then reassemble it that way. Unless you have a friend with a vertical mill then it wouldn't be too messy.

we'll see. To make it fair, how about we swap bikes between races? I don't even have a running bike yet. Joe and I are trying to scrape enough much off the motor to find the spark plug holes, but once we do, it may actually run. This motor is truly a stocker, since if I do well at all, Steve Mahanes will automatically think I stuck illegal parts in there. Hope it runs.

the rs is for sale, so i dare not ride it because it is worth a lot more in it's present condition than after i flog the hell out of it in a vain attempt to catch you.....or keep you from lapping me on it. the potential buyer might be coming to the race. we'll let him ride it, i got odds on him beating you....(won't that be a bitch)?
the cb350 is another story! i can't trade off between races as i am trying to accumulate v1 and v2 points on it. however, we could both go out in v3 to have our epic battle if you so desire.
i hope jay (superwhite) shows up. i haven't heard any steve miller/elo/journey in the pits for a while and he is hella good on that cook stove (he can make the pancakes).
buckmastergeneral is supposed to show too. someone should get a hold of loverboy (turnball) to let him know that there is a vintage race series still running in the u.s.a.!
