4 into 2 or 4 into 1 exhaust?

right now I have a 4 into 2 exhuast on my CB750 and I was wondering what is better, 4 into 2 or 4 into 1. I was thinking of keeping the stock header and getting some universal slip-on mufflers. All that chrome is getting on my nerves chrome=heavy, but I can't say much my Olds 442 has quiet a bit
